Ecclesiastes 5:18 Behold that which I have seen. it is good and right for one to eat and to drink, and to see good in all his labor that he labors under the sun all the days of his life, which God gives him; for it is his portion.
A man was walking down the street one day and passed a construction site. He asked one of the workers, “What are you doing?” The man answered, “I’m laying bricks.
The gentleman kept walking and came to another worker. He asked him the same question. And this was his reply, “I’m building a cathedral.”
Some men lay bricks, while others build cathedrals. The only difference is in your perspective on work. Are you content to lay bricks, or do you want to build a cathedral?
The Bible has a lot to say on this subject, because God is big on work. It’s unfortunate that we live in a world that undervalues work. Work is a gift from God.
Many think work is the result of the original sin, not so. Work existed before sin entered the world. Sin compounded the difficulty. Work was always a part of God’s plan. As a matter of fact He set the example with creation.
Be thankful if you have a job, and do it as unto the Lord.
